KAREN wiki highlights, recent updates and cool stuff you should know about for September 2009.
The KAREN wiki is a collaborative space where members of the KAREN community share ideas and resources that help them to make the most of their access to KAREN.
At the end of each month we are highlighting recent and interesting case studies, facts and updates from the KAREN wiki. If you have content to add, you too can make a contribution by signing up for a wiki account.
All KAREN members and similar edication and research organisations across the world are available 'on-net', i.e. reachable directly over KAREN and via our international relationships at super speeds and without the usage and bandwidth limitations of 'off-net' destinations. This means any content hosted by our members and international community is also available on-net. Check out the digital collections of the Alexander Turnbull Library or University of Otago's Digital Collections.
This directory contains links to eResearch resources and KAREN related topics available on-net. If you are aware of useful material that is not listed here please add a category or a link. And why not have a look at NIWA's "Know your beach coastal explorer."
There was a fantastic turn out to the eResearch event at Lincoln on 22 September. Plant & Food Research were hosts to about 60 representatives from KAREN members including Plant & Food, AgResearch, GNS Science, Landcare, Lincoln University, the University of Canterbury and NIWA. The packed programme allowed scientists to showcase the latest tools and projects on KAREN.
KAREN's international reach allows members to take advantage of equipment and resources overseas. IRL are using the Australian Synchrotron to do X-ray Crystallographic studies of small molecules in crystal powders.
