The KAREN wiki is a collaborative space where members of the KAREN community share ideas and resources that help them to make the most of their access to KAREN.
At the end of each month we are highlighting recent and interesting case studies, facts and updates from the KAREN wiki. If you have content to add, you too can make a contribution by signing up for a wiki account.
BeSTGRID and BlueFern have joined forces to lead a proposal for collaborative High Performance Computing and eResearch for New Zealand. A proposal has been submitted to RIAG (MoRST's Research Infrastructure Advisory Group) for a national, co-ordinated approach to High Performance Computing and eResearch tools and services. You can see the proposal in full at the page above. The proposal leaders, Mark Gahegan and Tim David, welcome your feedback on the document.
Dr Slava Kitaev and his collaborators from across the country are building a radio event sensor network to explore electromagnetic phenomena on Earth and in Space. This page is an interesting synopsis of the project, including diagrams and explanations of the huge data streaming and processing requirements. This project received funding from the 3rd round of the KAREN Capability Build Fund.
A huge amount of international content is available on KAREN. One of the exciting sites belongs to NASA. This website has a host of high definition videos and images as well as interactive activities for students of physics and other science disciplines.
KAREN brings the world to New Zealand. The Vatican Museums in Rome has one of the largest collections of European Art in the world. This is just one example of the kind of cultural material that is available to artists and historians on KAREN. Have a look at the interactive high definitions of the Sistine Chapel, one of the world's most spectacular works of art. After the Sistine Chapel take a virtual tour of the Egyptian Collection.
