Before joining REANNZ, Donald Clark was the Prime Minister's policy adviser on telecommunications, transport, economic development, state-owned enterprises, science & innovation and broadcasting. He has also advised ministers on the Government's ownership interests in the Crown research institutes.
Prior to that, Donald worked in Europe as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He was also an early employee at technology start-up Ask Jeeves UK. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Edinburgh.
Martha is the Personal Assistant to our Chief, Donald. As part of the Corporate Services team, Martha brings a vast knowledge of office processes and procedures, enjoys getting involved in an array of activities and you can find her with many ‘hats’ on. Outside of the office, Martha plays softball, is quite adept at Oamaru stone carving and dabbles in painting and jewellery making.
Mark Cordy joins REANNZ from telecommunications consultancy Amos Aked Swift (NZ) Ltd. He has more than 30 years experience in telecommunications having held a variety of senior positions within Telecom New Zealand. His expertise includes commercial and contracts negotiation, specification and evaluation. His technical skills include standards and practices, transport and data systems, and network management systems. Mark holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Canterbury.
Julie was formerly Group Manager, Public Awareness, with the Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA). At ERMA she was responsible for budgeting and strategic communications planning for public awareness activities relating to the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act. This included building public understanding of genetically modified organisms. She has also previously had a range of senior roles in publishing in the private and public sectors. Julie has a degree in English Literature from Victoria University.
Hailing from Christchurch, Elaine has previously worked as the Company Secretary of Bank of New Zealand and Head of the Legal Section at the AMP Society. More recently, she has been in the printing and marketing businesses with her husband Tony. Elaine is leading the day-to-day management of REANNZ and making vital contributions towards the company's strategic direction.
David joined REANNZ from Datacom where he managed a team designing, implementing and running tools for enterprise systems management capability. He has also worked at Telecom Advanced Solutions and as a network and security consultant for a variety of organisations. He was involved in the architecture and delivery of the global network for the New Zealand Dairy Board prior to the Fonterra merger. David graduated from Victoria University with degrees in Criminology and Social Policy.
Andrew was most recently at EDS where he was Technical Lead of the Best Shore Network Engineering Team. He was involved in the global engineering and delivery of networking services for General Motors. He has also worked at Telecom Advanced Solutions as a Design Engineer and the Bank of New Zealand as an Infrastructure Specialist.
John formerly worked for the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) as a Business Solutions Specialist for its Corporate Business Group and a Network Specialist for the Network Services Group. He has a wide range of experience in Telecommunications, including marketing, product development, network planning, engineering, project implementation and acceptance. At REANNZ John is leading the architecture design, planning and development for KAREN. He holds a Degree in Management and Industrial Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology.
David has worked in the telecommunications industry throughout his career, including senior roles in sales, marketing, financial analysis, network construction, and network operations. These roles have been with national carriers and with niche operators. Recently, David has provided consultancy services to a range of projects, including strategic reviews for applicants to the governments Digital Strategy, certification of Number Portability for a number of telecommunication carriers, and has also assisted with the design of Transpower's next generation telecommunications national network. David has tertiary qualifications in engineering, quality and management.
Bill is a member of our Communities Team. He comes to REANNZ with a background in eCommerce and education. As our Development Coordinator, Bill is helping to build the breadth and depth of KAREN’s membership and usage. On the weekends, Bill is often fishing for trout on the Hutt River, listening to music, or working on various handyman projects around the house.
Vicki has spent the last 5 years working in the communications field, first with the Tertiary Education Commission and until recently with the Ministry of Justice. Vicki is a graduate of both the University of Canterbury and Victoria University of Wellington and has a Masters degree in Education. Out of the office Vicki can be found diving off Wellington's south coast or cycling the Miramar Peninsular.
Caroline is a member of our Corporate Services team. As our Accounting Technician, Caroline is responsible for financial processing and reporting. You can also find Caroline refereeing netball, doting on her cat Puddy and enjoying the odd glass of vino.
Dr Jim Watson, of Auckland, is the Founding Scientist at Genesis Research & Development Corporation. He is a member of the Growth & Innovation Advisory Board, President of the Royal Society of New Zealand, director of Travelex Worldwide Money Ltd and was previously a director of the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology. His professional interests enable him to take a highly informed view of the value of the Advanced Network as a key piece of research infrastructure, while his personal leadership of a biotechnology start-up company has ensured his valuable contribution during the establishment phase of REANNZ.
Based in North Canterbury, Carol Moffatt has more than 40 years experience at all levels of the education sector. She holds directorships with Multiserve Education Trust Ltd and Core Education Ltd (formerly Ultralab South). She was the Manager, ICT Strategy for Schools for the Ministry of Education between 1998 and 2003.
Jane Taylor is a Queenstown-based barrister specialising in the areas of civil law and equity. Formerly a Chartered Accountant, her business background includes business and share valuations, corporate finance, insolvency and company reconstruction, and litigation support. Jane recently retired as a director of Scion (Crown Research Institute) and was previously a director of Forestry Corporation of New Zealand. She was recently appointed to the board of the Legal Services Agency and is the Chair of the Milford Community Trust. Jane is a member of the Institute of Directors, the New Zealand Law Society and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand.
Dr Rick Pridmore is semi-retired, working as a consultant/board director for a variety of organisations. He reitred from NIWA in 2006 where he served as Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive (Strategic Development) and Research Director since 1993. From 1980 to 1993 he worked as a scientist with the Ministry of Works and DSIR specialising in marine and freshwater ecology. Rick established the NIWA Information Technology Team in 1994 and was also responsible for making the business case for and purchasing NIWA's CRAY T3E high performance computer.
