Learn how to tune your workstation and devices to get the best from KAREN.
The speed and capacity of KAREN has allowed members to share data faster than ever before. This has also had the effect of moving the performance bottleneck away from the core network towards institutions and their internal network and equipment.
On Friday 15 May, we will are hosting a virtual workshop which will give you an insight into how to tune your network and host to get the best performance and speed out of your KAREN connection.
Andrew McKegg from REANNZ will introduce you to tuning your KAREN devices and workstations. This will include an overview of jumbo frames and TCP tuning.
Ben Yeldon, Systems Support Consultant from Auckland University of Technology, will then share AUT's experience in getting high speed data transfers working, issues they came across and what they did to mitigate them. Ben's presentation will focus on tuning your workstation, but will also touch on edge devices and routers.
This workshop is targeted at network specialists, IT staff and researchers at KAREN member organisations.
2:00 - 3:00pm, Friday 15 May 2009. [The video conference will be open from 1:30pm to allow you to test your connection]
