Research coordination and collaboration for geoscience in New Zealand is leaping forward with the recent initiation of the SCENZ-GRID project to establish a grid infrastructure for geoscientists in New Zealand and the larger scale NCRIS funded AuScope project in Australia.
This three-day workshop will explore these and other geoscience collaborations, and give participants a detailed look at the workings of cyberinfrastructure and grid computing, based around the Geosciences Network (GEON).
The first day is a discussion session with scientists and cyberinfrastructure developers from the USA, New Zealand and Australia, targeted at opening up knowledge of opportunities and improving collaboration within a broad range of e-science initiatives.
Day two and three are GEON-related workshop sessions. The workshop will get into the nitty gritty of e-science and cyberinfrastructure, and will appeal to domain scientists, computer and information scientists with an interest in cyberinfrastructure and grid computing.
