KAREN Members have been quick to take advantage of the REANNZ Capability Build Fund (CBF), with round two of the project fund now under consideration by judges on the Advisory Panel. An unenviable task judging a fund that is oversubscribed by 700%; but a strong indication that the KAREN community is recognising the need for capability growth to participate in the new potential offered through eResearch and education collaborations over KAREN.

The CBF is open to KAREN members to assist with building skills and applications to enhance eResearch. Round two of the project fund will be announced at the end of March 2008. The CBF Travel Fund is currently open and application forms are on the Royal Society website. A special solicited fund to accelerate institutional capability - to free up time for researchers and educators to take advantage of new tools and applications - is open until 14 March 2008.
