How to join

Becoming a member of REANNZ's community involves connecting to our network.

Become a member

Membership is open to education, research and innovation organisations, and businesses that support them.

Make sure you familiarise yourself with our Membership categories, Network Access Policy and Acceptable Use Policy to determine:

  • whether you are eligible to join
  • what category applies to you
  • your member benefits and expectations
  • what you can use the network for
  • membership fee

It is important that you contact us early on in your exploratory and decision making process. We will be able to help you understand what category you fit into and what this means for you.

Find out what services are available to you

You need to check which services and connection options are available for your membership type. Check out the member services and connection options matrix.

Decide how you will connect to the network

Next, you need to think about how you are going to connect to our network. One of the key differences in accessing our network is that unlike standard commercial networks, is the responsibility of the member to arrange, manage and fund a network connection from their site to the nearest network Point of Presence (PoP).

Consider connection costs

In addition to the annual membership fee, there are commonly three cost components to a connection to our network:

  • Last mile circuit
  • Edge router, support and maintenance
  • One off connection charge

More detail on these costs is provided per connection type.

Connection options

The connection options available to you depend on the type of organisation you are, and have been designed to ensure you get the best for your organisation.

Connection options for schools

Connection options for ITP, wananga, library, health or government agencies or businesses
