MEDIA RELEASE 

KAREN lives after a successful launch on 31 August by the Rt Hon Helen Clark.

The event took place in the University of Auckland's Access Grid Suite, allowing live presentations from the Human Interface Technology Lab in Canterbury and the NEES@auckland office. In attendance were representatives from New Zealand's Universities and Crown Research Institutes, telecommunications and technology experts and others who had played a part in getting the network project to this point. 

It was also webcast and watched around the world.
