Identity and access management for eResearch in NZ to benefit from new funding from MoRST.

The Ministry of Research, Science and Technology are seeking proposals for two related identity and access management projects to help build eResearch capability in New Zealand.

Project One - IAM initiative: Toward a federated approach

This project provides funding of $85,000 to co-ordinate, agree and support an approach to Identity and Access Management (IAM) federation for New Zealand across KAREN member organisations.

Proposals are due to Julie Watson at MoRST by Thursday 30 April 2009 Thursday 23 April 2009.

Project Two - IAM initiative: Technical support and resources

This project provides funding of $300,000 to develop an Identity Provider (IdP) resource kit and technical support for KAREN members in readiness to move to an Identity and Access Management federation for New Zealand’s eResearch community. The project will include three to four commonly used research and education services as exemplar identity consuming services to pilot the approach. 

Proposals are due to Julie Watson at MoRST by Friday 8 May 2009.
