The HIT Lab NZ is holding an invitation only workshop on Next Generation Collaboration on February 8th.
The workshop will focus on key video conferencing methods, collaboration and applications that are available now in New Zealand over high speed IP networks. With the launch of KAREN (Kiwi Advanced Research & Education Network) late last year bringing Gigabit bandwidth speeds to Universities and Research Institutions in New Zealand, next generation collaboration can now be achieved at a higher quality and larger scales.
Attendees will have a chance to learn and experience video and audio hardware equipment that is currently setup on the KAREN network here at HIT Lab NZ as well as exploring future developments in video conferencing. They will see research and commercially available systems such as Access Grid, Conference XP and LifeSize, get a good overview of the fundamentals of collaborative technology and explore some of the current hot topics for future research.
Presenters include Don Clark, CEO of REANNZ (http://www.reannz.co.nz/), Professor Tom Furness, Dr Michael Haller, and HIT Lab NZ staff and students.
The workshop is free and will be for a full day at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch.
To register please contact Daniela Achatz or Donna Salaiau on 03-364-2349 or via email, info@hitlabnz.org telling them you would like to register for the Next Generation Collaboration workshop. Note that spaces are limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis.
