Researchers at the University of Otago are leading a project to create KAREN-enabled tools to support the genomics community in New Zealand. On Wednesday 27 May, the project leaders will talk about the tools they have developed and the grid services they have utilised in building these resources for genomics research.
'Integrated Genomics Resources for Health and Disease' project leaders Drs Chris Brown and Mik Black will describe the KAREN-enabled infrastructure they've developed for genomics researchers. The project team have developed tools to securely manage, analyse and visualise microarray data within New Zealand. Their service allows easy access to bioinformatic tools and the ability for improved collaborations between researchers.
Most resources developed as part of this project are now available through the Integrated Genomics portal
The project team have been working with BeSTGRID to utilise grid services over KAREN to meet their increasing computational requirements.
BeSTGrid is developing and deploying research services in collaboration with New Zealand bio and geo science researchers. Nick will give an update, describing how these communities are working to develop plans for 2009 / 2010.
This project was awarded funding through the KAREN Capability Build Fund.
