New Zealand exports eResearch talent to Australia

Vicki Lindsay, 15/10/2007 12:30pm

University of Auckland eResearch Director and KAREN champion Paul Bonnington is crossing the ditch to take up the Directorship of Monash University eResearch Centre.

Paul has been lecturing at Auckland University since 1994, is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and was previously Associate Dean for IT in the Faculty of Science.

Paul is a staunch advocate for KAREN and has taken a leading role in establishing a framework for eResearch both at the University of Auckland and throughout the country through the BeSTGRID project.

His frequent demonstrations of eResearch tools EVO and Sakai has seen the quick uptake of these tools by our members, and under his directorship BeSTGRID has made exceptional progress in delivering eResearch mechanisms, methods and tools.

Paul and his family will be moving to Melbourne early January 2008.

We wish Paul all the best.
