  • The Crown committed to provide additional shareholder capital of $16 million in the 2010/11 year, to support the ongoing operation of an advanced network in New Zealand and its transition to a self-funding business model.
  • The Ministry of Research, Science & Technology and the Tertiary Education Commission engaged REANNZ to invest $2.9 million to connect remote Members sites to the network.
  • The final $2 million of the Capability Build Fund was successfully allocated, with 97% of delivery milestones on target.
  • We hosted one of the largest APAN meetings to date, with over 350 delegates, which raised substantially the profile of KAREN in New Zealand.
  • A small group of the country’s primary and secondary schools were connected to KAREN as part of a trial National Education Network, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education Commission and National Library.
