AARNet, 07/02/2007 12:00am

AARNet High Definition (HD) Video Conferencing session

AARNet will hold an Ozeconference/information session on High Definition Video Conferencing at 2.00pm AEDST on Tuesday 13 February 2007.  An invitation to KAREN members to also participate has been kindly extended by James Sankar, AARNet's Director of Applications and Services.

Will MacDonald, General Manager of Codian in the US will set the record straight on the term (HD). He will explain why and how it’s different and will profile Codian’s latest technology – the 4500 MCU. He will discuss what’s in the box and how it compares.

The first 40 minutes will be hosted on AARNet’s MCU and the last 20 minutes will be an opportunity to connect on to the Codian 4500. Connection details will be provided during the Ozeconf.

What’s in it for KAREN members?

Organisations are beginning to recognise the advantages that high definition brings to video conferencing. In the absence of professional lighting, makeup and camera crews, users are turning to technology to provide that true to life experience. The cost of the network and equipment required to support high definition will force a gradual migration. This session will explain how to make a smooth journey to true HD and how you can avoid unforeseen potholes.

How to attend?

If you are interested in participating, please provide the following details; your name, Institution, email, Telephone (during conference) and IP Addres, to
